Once upon a time, in a forest, there was a lion that was very cruel, powerful, and ferocious. All the forest animals were afraid of him as he used to kill the animals of the forest to feed himself. Even the lion used to kill animals more than his demand to satisfy his lust for hunger. Resultantly, all the animals remained unhappy and insecure while living in the forest. They were afraid that by such actions of a lion, one day there will be no animals left in the forest and it will be clear of all the animals except the lion. So all the animals decided to meet the lion and give him some alternate options so that they may feel secure and there can be some chances of their survival. One day, all the animals of the forest gathered under a big tree and they invited the Lion to attend the meeting.
One
of the animals who acted as a representative of the animals praised the lion by
saying to him,” Your Majesty, it is a great honor for us that you are our king, and accepting our invitation for meeting you made us proud”. The lion got very
happy after listening complimentary words of the representative animal and told
“what’s the matter for which you invited me here”
All
the animals were afraid to say their point of concern to the lion but one of
the animals recollected courage and stood up. He told the lion, “it’s
natural that you being the king of the forest kills the animals out of us to feed
yourself. But it is our request to kill only the required number of animals to
suffice your requirement. To kill more animals than your need is unjustified as
after some days there will be no animal left in this forest to feed you”.
The lion was annoyed and he roared by saying, “then what do you want” One of the animals said, “We have a solution for this to retain you in comfort. We will send one animal on daily basis to your den, which will be for you to hunt and eat it. By such method you will not have to do efforts of hunting and will get food at your den”. The lion got pleased by this suggestion and replied, “Well. I agree to this proposal, but it will be your duty to make sure that the animal must reach me in time, otherwise, I will kill all the animals of the jungle in one day". The animals accepted his condition. From that day onwards, every day one animal was sent to the lion’s den which was a source of food for the lion with the ease of not putting any effort into hunting. The lion was very happy.
Then came a day when there was the turn of an old but wise rabbit to go to the lion’s den. The rabbit was reluctant to go there but his fellow animals forced him to go. The rabbit made a plan and decided to go late. As he got late, the lion got furious as he was too much hungry. After some time, the lion saw a little rabbit coming to his den. He decided to kill all the animals in the forest as they had not come up with their commitment. He asked the rabbit, “Why you are late”. The rabbit replied that “He was coming to your den with five more rabbits but rerouted to your den; they encountered a lion who claimed him to be the king of this forest. He killed five of the rabbits and I hardly escaped to come here”.
The
lion scream with anger and told, “It is Impossible, there cannot be another King
of this forest, I am the only one. Guide me to the place where you saw the
other lion, I will kill him”. The old rabbit took the lion towards a deep well,
which was filled with water. When they reached the well, the rabbit said,”
This is the place where the other lion lives. He might be hiding inside the
well.” The Lion looked into the well and saw his own reflection
considering it to be the other Lion. The Lion was furious and started growling.
He saw his image in water in the same temperament. Resultantly he jumped into the
water to kill his enemy but he drowned in the water of the deep well.
The wise rabbit got his target by his wisdom and told this story to all the animals in the forest. This was a sigh of relief for the whole forest community who were thankful for the old but wise rabbit and they lived cheerfully in the future.
Great lesson
